Gifts for flower lovers
If you have a plant-loving friend or family member with a passion for fresh flowers, I think you will find some great gifts and ideas in the edit I’ve put together. It’s easy to opt for a gift card, but I’m always a bit underwhelmed by them aren’t you? It feels so mercenary and lacking in imagination. To my mind, the best gifts are those carefully chosen surprises that actually resonate with the person you bought them. Sometimes that means thinking outside the box a little. So as well as floral snips, flower subscription ideas and flower growing paraphernalia, I’ve also included floral gifts, scented candles to evoke beautiful gardens on a Summer evening and lots more.
So, here goes with my Christmas Gifts guide for nature lovers and anyone with at least one green thumb! If you enjoy reading my blog post, and maybe have some unique gift ideas to share, why not leave me a comment at the foot of this page? I always love to hear from you.
Tea drinking and other joys
I’m someone who loves nothing more than a cup of tea in my garden shed. First thing in the morning is when I love to sit and take in what’s happening and what needs doing in my flower garden. At this time of year there are precious few flowers growing and the weather can frustrate even the most dedicated gardener. I’ve been planning to spend at least one day tidying the shed and digging up my dahlias for weeks. But it has rained, and rained and then rained some more. I’ve ventured out a few times in wellies and waterproof but slipping around in the mud isn’t quite what I had in mind. I’m itching to get out there on a cold and bright frosty day, so whilst I wait for the sun to come out, I found myself researching ideas for this feature instead.
My starting point was to think about gifts I would like to unwrap myself. I do fit the bill, being a passionate flower lover and grower – and one idea popped straight into my head. A pretty mug is always a perfect present – there genuinely is no better gift as far as I’m concerned. I love tea and I love textural ceramics so, for me, a well chosen mug is a source of daily simple pleasure. You can’t really ask for more from a gift can you? I did then find the prettiest Forget me Not earrings which might be a better choice for those less addicted to tea.
Getting back to the mug idea. I really like the textural floral design of this beauty from Etsy and I’d start with the Pink Hydrangea. Definitely a thoughtful gift for any flower lover and you could always add the real thing… maybe a packet of seeds or a potted plant.
Gifts for flower lovers
Hydrangea Embossed Mug
Love the pretty textural look and feel of this handmade stoneware mug available to buy on Etsy.
Porcelain Blue Forget Me Not Earrings
Handmade from delicate porcelain with sterling silver hooks, these are so, so pretty and work perfectly within our flowery theme. Hand painted true forget me not blue, and embellished with a tiny Swarovski crystal, each piece is unique – and there’s a matching necklace.
Personalised flower press
This handmade wooden press is a great way for any plant enthusiast to prolong the pleasure and beauty of fresh flowers. I love to press flowers and decorate jars with them to create pretty candle holders. The flickering candle light brings the delicate texture to life.
Letterbox dried flowers
Surely one of the best ideas for anyone with a passion for flowers. A simply beautiful way to capture the joy of seasonal flowers. You can also add a personalised message to the box which will fit most letter boxes. Easy. Browse more letterbox bouquet options here
Pretty pressed flowers in glass frame
This is one of those beautiful ideas that could easily spark diy projects. So easy to just order it ready done if you have little time – and with a cloud of such heavenly pink flowers. As gifts for flower lovers go, this has to be one of the prettiest.
It’s made by Hidden Botanics in Norwich.
Organic lavender candle
I love these organic hand poured natural candles by Skon Organics in Leicestershire. The Lavender candle evokes blissful Summer days in the flower garden.
Rose petal candle
These 100% eco-friendly soy wax candles have a traditional, heavenly rose scent and are inlaid with dried rose petals grown in an Isle of Arran coastal garden. Handmade by Scents of Aran, these uber pretty candles have an organic, unbleached, natural hemp wick and a beeswax coating which guarantees a slow, steady burn and strong flame, without any smoke, so you enjoy the calming smell of a room full of roses.
Wild Flowers floral blankets
How stunning is this pure cotton woven blanket by Woven Revival?
There’s also a gorgeous Bird Watcher blanket and Butterfly blanket too. Perfect for snuggling under on chilly days in the garden or potting shed.
Another best present idea is to take inspiration from the birth month. How about these pretty handmade silver birth month flower earrings
Flower Snips
A true joy for anyone who grows their own cut flowers, these are the Rolls Royce of snippers.
Petalon Flower subscription
The most sustainable of the flower subscription options, Petalon is my favourite. Offering seasonal, sustainable and beautiful flowers grown on their farm in Cornwall, find out more here:https://petalon.co.uk/
RHS subscription
This is a great gift idea for flower enthusiasts – not least because it means you can visit all RHS gardens for free and access members tickets to the Chelsea Flower Show. For a little festive twinkle I can heartily recommend the Glow event at Wisley RHS garden. I went a couple of weeks ago with a few friends and spent a very happy hour or two walking the magically lit trails. Find out more about RHS membership here: https://www.rhs.org.uk/join
Cutting Garden seeds
Stocks & Green sells a beautiful range of seeds and flower growing kit, including themed packs of seeds. This Bronze and Cream dream selection is my favourite with six easy to grow cutting garden flower seed packs, ranging from white to bronze with apricots and creams.
Indoor plants
At this time of year, a well-chosen potted plant for the living room is the perfect gift idea. Crocus has some lovely ideas – including this terracotta pot planted with scented paperwhite narcissi.
Or how about these clever living no-water waxed amaryllis bulbs?
One last idea I’ve just found that I need to include is this beautiful Echinacea antique bronze plant stake.
That’s it for now. I’ll add more favourites as I come across them. I hope you enjoyed my edited pick of the best gifts for flower lovers and that you find something to bring a little joy.
