Winnie the Pooh knitting patterns to love by the stitch magician that is Claire Garland aka Dot Pebbles Knits.
Key takeaways
1 Claire Garland (Dot Pebbles Knits) has created a collection of Winnie the Pooh-inspired knitting patterns including Eeyore, Piglet, Pooh Bear, Kanga, Wabbit, Tigger, and Roo.
2 The patterns are knitted flat on two straight needles with minimal seaming, making them accessible for knitters who prefer traditional construction methods.
3 Claire recommends Cardiff Cashmere 4-ply yarn for these projects, though knitters can substitute with any preferred yarn of similar weight.
4 The Roo and Wabbit patterns are available as free downloads on Ravelry, whilst the remaining characters are available for purchase as digital PDF patterns on Etsy.
I always feel a slight thrill when I discover that Claire has created a new pattern. As a lifelong lover of the Winnie the Pooh books by A A Milne (illustrated so touchingly by E H Shepard), this new collection of patterns thrilled me even more than usual.
There’s a slightly floppy and very cuddly Eeyore, sweetest little Piglet and jolly Pooh Bear. If you’re a fan of the characters like me, or have a little one in your life who is, I’m thinking you (we) probably need to get knitting! The difficult decision is which to make first?
Eeyore knitting pattern

I think this one might be my favourite of the three. It’s the personality that Claire manages to get into her creations that makes them so special don’t you think?
Eeyore pattern info: Finished size approx. 24cm/ 9.5in tall
Knitted flat, on two straight knitting needles but with minimal seaming
Yarn-wise: Claire knitted hers with Cardiff Cashmere (4-ply) – in shades Fumo, Piomo, Saki and Nero.
– but, as always you can use what you like/ have.
You’ll also need some toy eyes – Claire buys the washer back ones, the size she used here is written within the pattern. See more images and get further info on this Eeyore from Claire’s Winnie the Pooh knitting patterns collection here: https://www.frombritainwithlove.com/eeyore-knitting-pattern/
Piglet knitting pattern

I know I said Eeyore was probably my favourite of the three but now I think I might need to change my mind… and choose Piglet. Just look at him! He’s also perfectly pocket-sized so sure to become a much-loved favourite of little ones in your life. See more images of Piglet and get more info about this pattern here: Piglet knitting pattern
Pooh Bear knitting pattern

So I did say that Eeyore and then Piglet are my favourites. And I stand by that, but I do also love this cuddly Pooh Bear. Without the lovable bear himself, there’d be no Winnie the Pooh after all. So I’m thinking the solution to picking just one favourite is to commit to knitting all three and making a set.

The Secret to Achieving Claire Garland’s Signature Character Personality in Your Knitted Toys
What separates a merely accurate knitted character from one that truly captures personality lies in understanding Claire’s subtle construction techniques:
Eye Placement Mathematics
• Position safety eyes 2-3 stitches lower than your instinct suggests
• Angle them slightly outward (approximately 5 degrees) for Eeyore’s melancholic expression
• For Piglet, place eyes closer together (6-7 stitches apart rather than 8-10) to create his tentative, sweet demeanour
The Floppy Factor
Eeyore’s characteristic droop comes from:
• Under-stuffing the neck area by approximately 30% compared to the body
• Using a looser tension when knitting the head-to-body connection rows
• Allowing the limbs to remain slightly understuffed so they hang naturally rather than sticking out stiffly
Yarn Choice Impact on Character
Whilst Claire uses Cardiff Cashmere, the yarn texture dramatically affects personality:
• Smooth yarns (like cashmere or merino) = refined, storybook quality
• Slightly fuzzy yarns (like alpaca blends) = vintage, well-loved toy appearance
• Tightly twisted yarns = crisper stitch definition, more structured character

5 things to remember
#1 Claire Garland’s patterns are distinguished by their ability to capture character personality through subtle construction techniques including eye placement, stuffing levels, and body proportions that reflect each character’s unique temperament.
#2 All patterns in the collection are knitted flat on two straight needles with minimal seaming making them accessible to knitters who may not be comfortable with circular needles or complex construction methods.
#3 Cardiff Cashmere 4-ply yarn is Claire’s recommended choice though knitters have flexibility to substitute any preferred yarn, with texture choice significantly impacting the final character’s appearance and feel.
#4 The collection includes both paid and free patterns with Roo available as a free download on Ravelry whilst Eeyore, Piglet, Pooh Bear, Kanga, Wabbit and Tigger are available for purchase on Etsy.
#5 The patterns work together as a complete set allowing knitters to create the entire Hundred Acre Wood gang with consistent sizing and construction methods across all characters.
