Cutest toy knitting patterns and crochet patterns (four free!)
I know how many of you love to knit toys for loved ones or charity and so I thought you might like to see my pick of the cutest toy knitting patterns around. It wasn’t easy whittling the choice down, but I only added those patterns that literally melted my heart. I would love to know how you get on making these – you can send me an email or connect on social media. I always love to hear from you and about your creative stories. The first 12 patterns are all free – hope you enjoy!
Free Puppy pattern 1 by Claire Garland

This adorable puppy pattern by Claire Garland is available to download for free for my readers here. It’s knitted flat on 2 needles the body made with minimal seaming joining as you go. Claire gives yarn recommendations as well as lots of helpful ‘how to’ images if you want to make one just like hers.
Free Toy knitting pattern 2 Wabbit rabbit

I just love this free Wabbit the Rabbit pattern from Winnie the Pooh (also by Claire Garland). Wabbit is knitted and shaped with short rows and pick up stitches – as are all of Claire’s patterns.
Claire has listed the yarn she knitted Wabbit in within the pattern but you can adapt yarn choices to suit yourself – there is also a KIT available HERE
Free Toy knitting pattern 3 Roo from Winnie the Pooh

I defy anyone not to fall a little bit in love with this adorable Roo the baby kangaroo pattern also by Claire. It’s available to download for free from Ravelry.
Free Toy knitting pattern 4 Baby fallow deer

How heart-melting is this miniature fallow deer also by Claire? It’s another free beauty available to download for free from Ravelry.
Free toy knitting pattern 5 Sloth

I have a good friend who loves anything to do with sloths, so I’m tempted to knit this for her. It’s another free pattern by Claire available from Ravelry.
Free toy knitting pattern 6 baby rhino

Two words: you’re welcome. Another adorable free toy pattern by Claire, these baby rhinos in their stripy sweaters are cute and something a little different.
Free toy knitting pattern 7 kitten

This cute beginner’s kitten pattern is available to my readers here. The pattern includes cute pieces of clothing: a nurse’s apron, cardigan, winter romper suit and a tiny Christmas sweater, with optional furry hood – hope you enjoy!

Free toy knitting pattern 9 Hedgehog

It’s the way Claire captures his little face and scruffy spikes…! Another gentle beauty available to download for free from Claire’s Ravelry.
Free Knitting pattern 10 Miffy

Both of my children ADORED Miffy, so I wish I’d known about this knitting pattern when they were little. It’s by Knitterbees and you can get the free pattern here as well as on Ravelry here. I think this one would do really well at charity sales – or as gifts for babies and children. You don’t need me to remind you (but I will anyway) that you should replace the bead eyes if you’re planning to give this to a baby or small child due to the potential choking hazard. I made a soft elephant for my youngest when he was a baby and used black felt for the eyes – which are still going strong 20 years later…
Free knitting patter 11 Polar bear
