Claire’s story
My real name is Claire Garland and I design and sell my patterns under the name Dot Pebbles as well as being the author of several knitting books. My patterns all digital PDF patterns, so you don’t need to factor in delivery time as they’ll be emailed straight to your inbox.
Dot Pebbles was the name of the very first doll I designed after art college. She and five other similar dolls appeared in a book called Knitted Babes. I still have a doll of that ilk for sale, as a pattern, in my Etsy shop. Her name is Appley Peach!
Since then I’ve designed many toys and dolls knitting project ideas before settling on creating as-close-to-real-life animals as I can knit and create do-able patterns for. All with minimal seaming and using normal carded fibre. May I add that I absolutely adore this challenge because I truly love nature and beautiful yarn ~ I’m a Beatrix wannabe to he honest and author of magical woodland knits!

Dot Pebbles beautiful patterns include best yarn suggestions and lovely wool ideas to try including Rowan kidsilk haze. You can either source the exact beautiful knitting yarn that Claire uses for each design or use the same ply wool from your stash, Claire’s favourite places to source safety eyes, helpful tips on knit stitches and sometimes translations into other languages beyond the original english pattern. There are tips too on shape retention, knitting kit and full details too.
There’s plenty of pattern support from Claire if you get stuck as well as lots of how-to images and how/where to use stitch markers. There’s tips, too, on how to stuff your creations. Supreme ball fibre stuffing is always a popular and good value choice and there are recycled and loose fibre options.
