Sharing the love: Geraniums flower wallpaper by Sophie Harpley
I have a bit of a thing for geraniums and pelargoniums so I was quite excited to discover this beautiful modern floral wallpaper by artist Sophie Harpley. The design is hand painted by Sophie and printed in England using sustainable papers and inks. I love how she has captured the slightly messy, wild beauty of this much-loved pot plant and I’m wondering about hanging some of the paper inside an alcove in my bedroom.

Then I saw that there’s Geranium linen too, which sent me off into another direction. Bedroom blinds. I think geranium wallpaper and geranium blinds might be too much, though. Also, the wallpaper is £180 a roll, and the linen £165 a metre, so although to my mind this is a fair price for such individuality and high quality, it’s got to be a considered purchase. I’d need 8 metres of the fabric to make new blinds, whereas I could get the whole alcove done with one roll of the paper with some left over. It’s the perfect design for adding an artistic, floral accent to a room. So I think that’s what I’m going to do. Just have to make sure we don’t make a hash of the wallpapering…
In case you’re partial to geraniums too, I thought I’d share both the wallpaper and linen with you as well as a bit of insight into Sophie’s work and other designs too.

Geraniums linen cushion
Is life maybe too short to attempt sewing your own piped cushions? Probably not if you’re someone who actually enjoys sewing (which I know lots of you do!) and is reasonably proficient (which I also know many of you definitely are!). For me, however, attempting to make my own would likely end up a less-than-perfect and costly mistake. In case that’s how you feel too, these beautiful ready-made options are worth knowing about.

Geraniums lampshade
Now I know it would almost certainly be overkill to cram all of these Geranium options into one space, but it’s always worth knowing all your options before making a decision I find. This lampshade is a really quick and simple way to inject some handmade geranium prettiness into your interior.

I’m thinking that if I bought one roll of wallpaper and papered my bedroom alcove with it, I’d have enough left to make a couple of lampshades too. If you fancy doing the same, this blog post where I learned how to make a drum lampshade using a lampshade kit might be helpful. I seem to remember that it’s perfectly possible to swap a quality paper for fabric. A green velvet ribbon trim top and bottom would finish them perfectly.
About Sophie

Sophie grew up in the English west country. When she wasn’t drawing, crafting or exploring outdoors, she loved to help her mum spread bolts of Laura Ashley or Liberty cloth across the kitchen table to make curtains and clothes. She also remembers loving the floral wallpapers that hung on the walls of the Victorian family home.
After studying in Sussex, Sophie’s creative career began at London’s V&A Museum and served to confirm her deep love of modernist art and decorative design. She then went back to art school in Bristol, gaining an MA Graphic Arts in 2012, specialising in print.

An archive of hand-painted patterns evolved over the next few years, while Sophie designed for interiors brands and took on illustration commissions. It was after she had her daughter during lockdown that she shifted direction. Time to reflect led her to reopen her own studio in 2022 with a fresh focus on painting prints for beautiful, sustainable wallpapers and linen.
The collection she has created draws together Sophie’s passion for paint, pattern, history and home.
Other designs
There’s such a lovely selection of different designs to choose from in Sophie’s collection, but if I had to pick out just another three, it would be these:
