We have recently tutored Spring 2019 QEST Scholar, Jack Relton. Funding from QEST facilited Jack to undertake his first formal training, a 12 week course at Williams and Cleal, where he honed his craft and widened his knowledge of materials, traditional construction techniques and hand skills. Our training will enable Jack to create a craft focused, contemporary range of furniture, continuing the legacy of British Furniture Making.

Our school is set in the heart of the beautiful West Somerset countryside, on the edge of the Brendon Hills. Offering stunning views across the Quantock Hills, this beautiful location, combined with a well equipped workshop makes Williams and Cleal the perfect investment of time in your future career or hobby. Full time 40 week furniture design and making course

A perfect choice for those wanting to pursue a career change,  gain skills for personal use or for those who wish to start their own business and develop their existing skill base. The course covers design and making with the majority of the time based within the workshop. The course can be individually tailored to student’s requirements.

One week introduction to fine furniture

Weekend courses

In just two days, learn new skills and techniques that will introduce you to the wider possibilities in furniture making and the production on a small project to take home with you.

Weekend courses are taught by one of our fully qualified time, at our fully equipped school workshop.

Our tutors have a great deal of experience and knowledge and we are excited to share it with you on our weekend courses at the school.
