- OUBAS knitwear is crafted with integrity and care; a creative reflection of Cumbria and the English Lake District’s artisanal history. Our ethos is one of simple and sustainable luxury, honouring our tradespeople and our environment. We have the deepest respect for the pieces we craft, the people who craft them, and, of course, the people who wear them.
The Oubas story
Founded in 2012 by Kate Stalker, OUBAS works exclusively with British artisans and ethically sourced materials from leading woollen mills and spinners. We create timeless wardrobe pieces that transcend the seasons and we renounce fast-fashion.Each OUBAS piece begins life in our Cumbrian workshop. This is where we employ traditional hand-flat knitting machines to create unique and timeless knitwear. Some items are then crafted here in Cumbria. Others are produced in small batch specialist knitwear mills in Scotland and England. We can travel easily to our mills and always love catching up with the technicians and hand finishers who work there. Being able to build these relationships over the past few years has enabled us to grow and develop the quality of our pieces. We are proud to be part of the British textile manufacturing industry and individually value each of the producers, customers, and creatives connected to us.You might also like
