Bug clothing was founded in East London by Amy Ward. Seeking the objective to create garments by hand that reflect the ideology that we should all buy less and admire quality and consideration over quantity.
Bug clothing materials
Using only natural fibres as the foundation of our garments, each piece will be slightly different as they are made from our hands on a very small scale. The materials we use are dead-stock from designer factory waste, so although we can never be 100% sure of the composition, we make every effort to ensure that it is natural. This way we aren’t contributing to the reproduction of new materials and instead making use of excess.
Our belief is that clothing should be comfortable and purposeful, without faulting on style, so we design garments that can be worn for years to come, by a number of shapes + sizes, with the hope that you will cherish and mend your garment over the years. We believe that the things we choose to surround ourselves with matter, and what better place to start than with what we wear. Most of our garments are cut and sewn in our studio in South Wales, however we also work with a small sewing studio in our old home of East London, Karyna and her team are incredibly talented seamstresses and make clothing to a very high standard, as well as working for London Living Wage.
Inspiration is sought from the people we meet, the clothing we wear and the places we find ourselves.
