Zosia Ceramics: handmade functional ceramics by Cambridgeshire potter Sophie Fletcher
Sophie is a Cambridgeshire based potter who works from her garden studio. She makes functional wares such as mugs, plates and vases using warm-toned stoneware clay. The designs are often loose interpretations of traditional shapes and patterns. She is particularly interested in the unique and handmade forms found in medieval pottery, and has always been inspired by the Polish ‘Cepelia’ (folk) objects decorating her childhood home.
Zosia is the Polish name for Sophie, used by her mum and still used by her Polish family today. That connection to home, family and memory runs throughout her work.
