Cabbages & Roses ethical fashion and homeware made with love and quintessentially English in style.
Our story starts in the year 2000 when ex Vogue girl Christina Strutt, our wonderfully inspiring creative director, decides to start a business.
Cabbages & Roses has evolved into a cult brand; renowned for it’s wholesome and comforting interpretation of British fashion.
We design all of our products in London, our suppliers and manufacturers are specialists in their fields. Together we create pieces that cross generations and are entirely unique.
Cabbages & Roses fabric
We print all our Cabbages & Roses fabrics to order in England. We pigment print our timeless fabrics on to natural linen and go through several processes to ensure that it is soft and generous in its texture. Cabbages & Roses offer a bespoke curtain and cushion making service to interior designers and customers looking for something unique.
In 2017, we launched our first social responsibility program for the company. The global fashion and textile industry is the second most polluting and damaging industry in the world, second only to oil.
At Cabbages & Roses there is a deep understanding that we must be mindful of the choices we make and the impact they have on our environment and the people we work with. Building on the ethical values that make Cabbages & Roses what it is today, we want to design, create and instil a company culture that not only produces beautiful clothing, but also respects both the people we work with and our planet.
We are in the early stages of creating a programme to ensure that the environment and human welfare sits at the core of our company values, from our supplier relationships, to our company culture and our broader business ethics. It is not enough to simply comply with the minimum requirements. We aim to build on this each year.
Our 3 core environmental focuses are:
To become an entirely disposable plastic free company by 2020.
To launch a series of tools that enable the business to be more transparent over the next 18 months. These include a carbon calculator for the business, a recycling calculator as well as implementing a transparent pricing tool on our website.
To source 20% more responsibly sourced fabrics each year than the year before.
Our 3 core human welfare focuses are:-
We are a National Living Wage employer which we formalised in early 2018, although from the start we have always paid our staff and the people we work with a living wage.
We offer a paid volunteering day to each of our staff to support local causes which launched in 2018.
To only work with suppliers who have signed our supplier code of conduct by the end of 2018.
Cabbages & Roses will never be a commercial brand and we cherish the close relationship we have with our customers.
Above all, we aim to run our business in the kindest way possible. Quality, uniqueness and fair prices to all people involved in the provenance of the product remain at the core of our ethos.
Some people may think we are expensive but that is because we do not cut corners and we make sure that we pay our carefully managed supply chain a decent wage.
If you wear one of our coats or dresses, the chances are that no more than 30 people will be wearing the same design.
Our beautiful shop and office is located in a beautiful grade II listed building, in the heart of Chelsea, London.
