Oorla has always spent most of her time drawing and making things.
She has a degree in Art from Oxford Brookes University and then taught art to primary school teachers and children in Oxfordshire and Surrey for too many years to mention!
Oorla has had a fascination with close detail for as long as she can remember and is inspired by the beauty of the natural world, with a passion for colour, pattern and texture.
She only uses the highest quality materials; sterling silver, Thai Hill Tribe silver, gold filled and beautiful sparkling gemstones from Jaipur.
All pieces are lovingly handmade in her little studio near Hampton Court.
If you fancy having a go at creating jewellery for yourself, Oorla offers a range of workshops from her studio. More information on workshops >>
Caring for your jewellery
At Oorla Jewellery we use only the finest materials because we believe that your jewellery should last for many years with the right care.
Sterling and Hill Tribe silver – silver will tarnish naturally with exposure to air. Avoid contact with salt water, detergents, perfumes and chlorine as these chemicals can damage silver and cause it to tarnish more quickly. Use a soft silver cleaning cloth to clean. We do not recommend the use of silver dip.
Gold filled and gold vermeil – clean with a jewellery cleaning cloth after wear.
Gemstones – take great care when cleaning. If they become dull after wear you can use a very soft toothbrush or a soft cloth and tepid water. Never use chemicals on gemstones!
Avoid storing lots of pieces of jewellery together as they can get scratched.
Apply perfume, make up and hairspray before putting on your jewellery.
Avoid wearing your jewellery when bathing, showering, swimming or exercising and try not to sleep in it.
Try to store your silver jewellery in a dark, dry place away from other pieces. Air tight zip lock bags are perfect as they will help to prevent the air from tarnishing the silver.
