Willow – the book
Jenny’s first book created and published by Jacqui Small LLP and Quart Publishing Group.
A guide to growing and harvesting, it incorporates everything you need to know about basketmaking along with 20 exciting projects to tackle and create.
“A perfect basket depends on the makers empathy with the material, tools and form, on repetition and experience, combined with the intention in the makers mind. This practice requires slow and steady observation”
Jenny hopes the information and advice included in this book, along with the range of products chosen, will enable you to share the essence of making an object from a natural material, and that you will have the opportunity to experience the delightful fulfilment that growing willow and basket making can bring. These range from small items such as trivets used in the kitchen to large scale woven walls built on site outdoors.
Willow with RootsIn 2018, Jenny and her daughter Issy joined forces to creative Willow with Roots, a mother-daughter partnership with a shared passion for combining traditional basket making and willow growing with innovative and unique design. Together they has entreated spherical pods for Chelsea flower show and Lampshades for Michelin star restaurant Pensons and Sandringham estate.
