About Ambrose Vevers
Producing unique contemporary furniture using traditional craft techniques. Steam bending, spokeshaving amongst other artisan methods adds a human warmth to his work, that modern machining lacks. He aims to make less saw dust and more wood shavings.
Sustainable, local and honest natural materials. Local sourcing of the material is an important part of his furniture making. I’m happy to say that 100% of the main materials used are from Devon. I actively manage a woodland where I coppice, fell and replant trees.
I use a portable sawmill that allows me to source my wood locally as well as a Woodmizer LT15 bandsaw mill. Winter storms sadly bring down many old trees. Often trees are cut up for firewood without respecting the value of the wood that lies inside. Sourcing my material in this way is very rewarding and allows me to use unseasoned green wood that is great to work with and steam bend.
