Alice Blogg – work
As a skilled maker, Alice is widely respected in her field and is one of the country’s foremost female designers in wood. Her work features in Elle Decoration, Modern Rustic, Homes & Antiques, and collaborators include the Landmark Trust, Benchmark Furniture & British Council.
Alice’s ideas, marry with locally-sourced materials to create designs with real integrity that reflect her design and craft ethic. Working with the customer, concepts develop through a design process that is sensitive to the clients’ vision whilst incorporating Alice’s unique aesthetic. She has an infectious passion for the provenance and natural beauty of wood, with many commissions starting with a living tree.
The design studio, workshop and timber barn nestle in a luscious area looking out to Eggardon Hill across the rolling West Dorset countryside. Knowing the origin of the timber, bringing out its beauty, letting the timber sing. This intimate understanding of the material, often found literally at her feet, is Alice’s life.
