Sammy’s Note: back in 2019, I was asked to host a workshop at Dovecote Studios in Edinburgh, alongside a May Morris exhibition. Morris was a fantastic woman: an advocate for women’s textile arts and lead embroiderer in her father William Morris’ textile design company. This kit was directly inspired by her floral, countryside themed work – so I hope I’ve done her justice!

What’s included in the Botanicals embroidery hoop kit

  • Organic and ethically sourced cotton fabric
  • Plenty of DMC stranded cotton thread
  • High quality 8 inch wooden hoop made by Elbesee in the UK using FSC wood

  • Stitch Guide booklet (with photos)
  • Detailed instructions and reference pictures

  • Felt (70% wool, 30% viscose blend) – to cover the messy back once it’s finished
  • This all comes in a delightful, letterbox-friendly gift box, measuring 23 x 23 x 2cm.
  • The finished embroidery measures 8 inches (20cm) across.
