At Catkin English Country Flowers we specialise in English grown flowers – our flowers are grown in a walled cutting garden in Lincolnshire. We also offer a range of artisan floristry courses.
My name is Rachel Petheram and I’m an artisan florist, a gardener and a teacher. My courses are designed and run by myself with attention to detail, and the intention that you have a fabulous time! They are regularly featured in national press: Homes and Antiques included them in their ‘101 best courses for 2013’ and my courses were recommended by Country Living Magazine in August 2014, April 2015 and in May 2016.
The courses give you as much information/training as possible in a relaxed environment. I want you to feel that you have learnt loads and that you have had a lovely, inspiring day! I never, ever want people to feel intimidated or put off. The courses are accessible to everyone.
My flowers are grown in an Elizabethan walled cutting garden, in Lincolnshire. I grow a range of glorious scented flowers and foliage in all colours and textures. Proper, old fashioned, cottage garden flowers! I grow my flowers especially for weddings and events and are also available to buy as bouquets, or cut stems.
The Doddington Hall gardening team grow fruit and vegetables in the kitchen garden too. So it really is a proper mixed kitchen garden. This leads to a fabulous ecosystem full of insects, birds, toads and several grass-snakes. This means that we can garden without using harmful pesticides and chemicals.
I have a wealth of experience using British flowers, I have been growing and using them in my business for over 10 years so I also offer one to one training for florists or anyone who would like to learn a new skill at their own pace.
