Best of all I like the carols and the tree – the traditional stuff! And I love the fact that the shops are closed – I’d like everyone to have at least two full days off, really, three if it were possible.

What I Love About Christmas: So much – but most of all is the quality family time we get to spend together, enjoying each other’s company, playing games, going to Church, singing carols, eating lots of food that we have also spent time cooking together. it is a wonderful reason to celebrate Jesus’s birth and decorate the home lavishly and spend time with loved ones, along with reestablishing contact with friends anew, since you don’t see them or hear from them other than at Christmas.

I love the fact that even though I’m a mother of Evie 9 and Daisy 7, I still wake up on Christmas morning as excited as I did when I was a child. You’ve got to keep the magic alive…..i

The 24 day run up to it. I make all the contents for four advent calenders, one each for my husband Brian, my parents, and for my two best friends, appropriately named, Carol and Carole! I love making each of the little items and then get great enjoyment from their reactions when they open each little gift. Some are edible, home made chocolates & sweeties, some little nonsenses – a blue spotted fabric mushroom; some useful – I made needle cases one year, and some for hanging on the tree – Carole keeps all of her little things hanging up all year round and just adds to the collection each year!
I spend all year collecting ideas and then start making them in October – at least that is usually the plan!

I asked my 8 year old daughter why she always included a bed as the focal point of her Christmas card design (this year a kitten is asleep in a bed under a mobile featuring Angels and holly) and she said that it was because waking up in the morning was the most exciting part. I agree with her as nowadays we wake up to very excited cuddles on Christmas morning.
