Meet Graeme Corbett, founder of Bloom and Burn, and your teacher for this course. Graeme shares his creative journey and how he went from working in the television industry for over a decade to working in the flower business. Hear about his diverse influences and his sources of inspiration.
Get an overview of the tools and materials needed and hear some tips on where to find them. Next, Graeme guides you through different seasonal flowers you can use and which work best. Learn how to work with contemporary flower compositions by playing with colors, shapes, and arrangements. Get inspired by searching for references and creating a mood board for your designs.
Graeme discusses the importance of sourcing your flowers locally and shares some tips for growing your own. Then, hear some dos and don’ts when working with contemporary floral design. Discover how to best prep your flowers in a vase or vessel and how to keep them looking fresh for longer.
Delve into your first design by making a hand-tied bouquet using a variety of flowers with an array of colors and textures. Next, learn how to use a pin frog to arrange your next design in a small bud vase bowl.
