We love… Little Greene Retrospective wallpaper
Iconic British paint and paper manufacturer The Little Greene Paint Company have launched a new ‘Retrospective’ wallpaper collection. Featuring a series of authentic designs originally produced during the 1960s and 70s, the prints have genuine retro appeal but are also perfectly suited to contemporary interiors.
The eight designs are available in a total of 37 colourways with a palette ranging from soft neutrals through to fresh citrus shades – ideal for feature walls and whole room schemes alike. View the collection and buy online at www.littlegreene.com.
from the archives
This collection is the result of research into a variety of historical sources, including the archive at Manchester’s Whitworth Art Gallery. Little Greene themselves describe what they were setting out to do in terms of story telling. This is how they pu it: ‘Retrospective Papers’ tells several simultaneous stories about interior design in the late twentieth century. Combining hallmark ‘retro’ designs that embody the fashion for geometric patterns with two-colour silk-screen prints that echo the graphic quality of the pop-art movement, and more classic designs that drew inspiration from earlier periods, arguably nostalgic in their own time.’
We can see what they mean. Bottom line, though, is that the designs look lovely styled in a contemporary room. Our favourite is the Bark design (above, bottom right). This combines nostalgia with Scandi sensibilities and can be used to add a bit of edge to a cosy Nordic design.
