In addition to our famous collection of tickings stripes checks and plains we have some exciting new fabrics from linens for the home to indispensable oilcloths for the kitchen and conservatory.

We’re passionate about design quality and service. We are extremely proud that our fabrics are made from 100% natural fibres and over 90% are woven in this country in our own traditional Lancashire cotton mill run by the same family for six generations.

We are committed to producing fabrics and furnishings of the highest possible quality, from 100% natural and organic fibres in timeless and elegant designs.

As a brand conceived, created and produced in Britain, we are passionate about British produce and preserving traditional crafts and skills. Ian Mankin has one of the last surviving cotton mills in Britain and is dedicated to protecting the unique industrial landscape of which it forms a part.

We design and weave our fabrics ourselves in our own weaving mill in Burnley, Lancashire, the birthplace of the world’s industrialised cotton weaving industry and we are extremely proud to continue the crafts and skills learnt over generations.Our complementary cushions, wallcoverings, lighting and accessories are also all UK made by craftsmen with generations of experience behind them.

Natural and Organic Fabrics

All of our fabrics are made from natural fibres and during the weaving process we add no chemicals – so the only finishing treatment given is a wash in pure Pennine water. Good for you and good for the environment!

We were delighted to become the first cotton weaving mill in the UK to receive certified Global Organic Textile Standard status from the Soil Association for the production of a range of organic fabrics. View the full collection here.

Cushions and accessories.

A selection of Ian Mankin fabrics have been made into cushions that can be supplied from stock. Any of the fabrics used can be ordered as swatches from the fabric section of the website.
All Ian Mankin cushions come with luxury feather pads.

Accessories include lighting, bags, fabric covered notebooks and our own range of candles and diffusers.

Wallcoverings

We print our two wallcovering in the UK onto luxury non-woven paper from FSC certified forests. We use no chlorine in its bleaching processes. This is a top-of-the range wallcovering. It’s “paste the wall” paper that is stronger and easier both to apply and to remove. Ian Mankin wallcovering paste to suit the wallcovering is also available.

IMPERIAL

Our latest collection Imperial comprises six designs and includes four signature stripes as well as a floral and geometric motif. Each design is available in a range of colourways. Evoking Britain’s golden age of industry, the collection’s name is in honour of our historic cotton mill. Where we still weave all our fabrics today.

WALLCOVERING
There are four designs from Ian Mankin fabrics: Ticking 01, Oxford Stripe, Wildflower and co-ordinating plains. All of these look almost like fabric and feature a delicate ground weave.
