Artist Philippa Stanton (aka hugely popular Instagram influencer 5ftinf, with over 400K followers) has published a book Conscious Creativity (read my review of the book and the wonderful workshop to launch it here) and offers inspiring courses and workshops throughout the year. She has also created a beautiful collection of individually printed and hand edged 100% silk scarves, pocket squares, calendars and jigsaws that are available to buy from her shop.
I originally grew up in Warwickshire and went to school in Leamington Spa. I briefly studied History of Design at Manchester Polytechnic before going on to train for 3 years at RADA.
Life took many interesting twists and turns of fate before I started painting, and life basically carries on with its twisting and turning taking me into this more digital, daily world of 5ftinf…
I have lived in Brighton for over 10 years and enjoy writing lists, multi tasking, Spaghetti Western soundtracks and sitting at the table, drinking tea and looking at things.
I have been Artist in Residence for Shakespeare’s Globe in London and exhibited across the UK, as well as being part of the Brighton Open Houses since 2004 opening my house with a group exhibition every May and November @64sandgate
My work and I have been featured over the last few years on various TV and radio programmes including the BBC’s Radio 4 (iPM), World Service, SmArt, The One Show, Horizon and next year a programme for The Insight Channel.
Why the name 5ftinf?
It’s a name that was given to me by the other actors when I was playing the part of Infant Phenomenon in Nicholas Nickleby at The Chichester Festival theatre. Infant Phenomenon got shortened to ‘inf’ and as I’m only 5 foot, that’s where the ‘5ft’ bit came from. Simple. I needed to make a quick decision about name and that was it.
