What makes Trewithen Dairy so special?
Bill and Rachel Clarke bring more than the 25 years they have been at Greymare Farm near Lostwithiel in Cornwall. They also bring the experience that comes from families who have been Cornish dairy farmers for generations.
Their milk cream and other dairy products all start life with a happy healthy Cornish cow grazing in a lush green field. The Clarkes make three kinds of milk four kinds of cream bio-live yogurt creme fraiche and buttermilk. Whatever it is you can tell it came from a mollycoddled cow doing what she fancies somewhere beautiful (and no more than 25 miles from our farm). Our secrets no secret at all – its just about taking extremely good care of the cows…
Trewithen Dairy has always been a family business and proud of it.
As we have grown, so has our family. It’s not just the Clarke family that do all they can to make our delicious Cornish dairy products what they are, it’s our colleagues, our farmers and of course, our customers too. One big Trewithen Family.
In the early days the Clarkes had their own herd. Bill and Rachel would bottle the milk once the children were in bed and deliver it early the next morning. They cooked the clotted cream themselves, in open trays and potted it by hand.
Their customers loved all of this Cornish dairy goodness and soon the Clarkes were supplying more and more happy customers.
