It has to be the daffodils and vast array of bulbs that burst into bloom in the spring. (And of course fond memories of having our wedding photos taken with daff blooms smiling away in a country house garden!) Being from Australia, I’ve never seen anything more beautiful than the UK in springtime.

The breathtaking diversity of our natural habitats – brooding blue-grey skies to lavender-blue carpets of bluebells; the abundance of new life, new growth.

I love the first days I notice that the leaves are about to burst on the trees – the green is so bright and vivid and the trees look so delicately decorated with green jewels.

England in the spring is my favourite time of year… the multi-coloured bulb flowers; the cute, bouncy lambs gently baaing in the fields; the vibrant green of new life on trees and in our hedgerows; long bank holiday weekends; the gentle warmth of the sun; the hope and joy of longer days; sowing seeds and pottering in my garden; Easter chocolate; planning summer holidays; flinging open windows and letting the fresh air and birdsong fill the house… a fresh start 🙂

I love the fact that everything seems to be reborn after the cold “duvet” days of winter.

Living in a semi-rural location I love to see the Spring lambs arriving and gambling in the fields.

For me, I know that Spring is about to arrive when I can walk home in partial daylight … the beautiful dusk light at 5pm is a sign that sunny evenings are on their way!
