SARAH HEATON POTTERY
Having spent 18 years designing for Denby pottery, Derbyshire-based Sarah Heaton decided to go it alone and launched her first collection in 2011… and was soon picking up awards.
Where and how are your products made?Everything is made in a very old creamware factory in Stoke on Trent. Being Made in England is very important to me. Because I use some of the most skilled potters in stoke, I like to think their attention to detail and their willingness to try things sets me apart.
Favourite piece (and why)?I’m proud of my mug! It’s become an iconic piece of the collection. Plus lots of people said it was too difficult to make….I like to prove people wrong.
What’s special about your designs? The shapes are my own design and therefore unique to my range. There’s a lot of bought-in generic crockery from overseas and it’s all the same shape!
