Firstly, we love the simple, scandinavian design-inspired Nordic pattern. Simple cornflower blue flowers in vertical stripes contrast with intersecting graphic brown diamonds. The perfect combination of colours and shapes that work magically together. Pretty without being twee or chintzy.
Midwinter did make a matching coffee pot to go with this set, but we think it looks so much better teamed with this beautiful blue Johnson Bros pot from the same era.
Jessie Tait was a prolific pottery designer throughout the 50s and 60s, and was the driving force behind Staffordshire-based Midwinter’s highly collectible Stylecraft range that launched in the 50s. Jessie captured the mood of the time and created modern, timeless designs that stand the test of time. Her Nordic design is probably our number one favourite, which is why we were so excited when we came across this set, and in such perfect condition.
If you’d like to claim this special set for yourself, you’ll have to act fast – we only have one of each for obvious reasons and are unlikely to come across them again.
