Where is it?
Montpellier is one of the most fashionable areas of Cheltenham with grand villas and sweeping terraces, ornamental pleasure gardens and a great selection of specialist shops.

Why should I go there?
The Montpellier Chapter Hotel is located in the heart of Cheltenham Spa, which is an ideal base for exploring the beautiful towns and villages of the Cotswolds. Cheltenham has a lot to offer with its historic promenades, squares and terraces, and there’s plenty going on with the celebrated Cheltenham Festivals and Cheltenham Races happening throughout the year.

Will I find interesting local products to buy?
Walk into Montpellier and you'll discover all sorts of independent shops in which to browse. Cheltenham also has a Farmer’s Market on the second and last friday of each month, and there are two vineyards, Three Choirs (pictured) and Strawberry Hill just a short drive away. In the surrounding villages you'll find farm shops, local producers and delightful tearooms, while nearby Stroud boasts an award winning Farmer’s Market too.

Where can I eat locally sourced food?
The theatre style Restaurant is guided by TV chef and best-selling author Simon Hopkinson and features seasonal menus with a focus on well executed classic dishes and British favourites, using excellent ingredients and produce.
Can I stay somewhere with a bit of character?
Set in a conservation area, The Montpellier Chapter Hotel elegantly combines the refurbishment of the existing beautiful Grade II listed villa with a modern extension and courtyard. The result is a stunning mix of old and new - from the elegant drawing room with it’s full length Georgian windows to cutting-edge technology, including paperless check in, complimentary WiFi, 3G iPod touches in rooms and wine lists displayed on iPads. Cheltenham is blessed with a number of large festivals that happen in and around the town including the world famous Cheltenham Gold Cup horseracing festival and the Music, Science, Jazz and Literature festivals. Nearby Winchcombe boasts the beautiful Sudeley Castle and Gardens (pictured), and Tewksbury Abbey and Gloucester Cathedral are a short drive. Nearby Museums include the Cheltenham Art Gallery & Museum, The Holst Birthplace Museum, and Pittville Pumprooms, while Beatrix Potter fans will love The Tailor of Gloucester Museum & Shop in Gloucester. Older families might enjoy a trip to tbe Cotswold Water Park which has over 40 square miles of lakes and water sport activites.

When is the best time of year to go?
The year kicks off with the Cheltenham Gold Cup Festival at the Racecourse in March. The Science and Music festivals during the Summer are up and coming events, and during the celebrated Jazz Festival in May and Literature Festival in October, there is a tremendous buzz around town.
