About us...

Perilla is home to a magnificent range of the finest quality British made alpaca socks - the ultimate treat for feet.

We launched Perilla in 2006 using British alpaca but as we grew we just could not get enough of the high grade alpaca we needed for sock making so sadly we had to start importing raw fibre from Peru. However, all the processes are carried out in England. The raw fibre is processed into machine yarn in West Yorkshire and is then sent to a dyer in the same county. It then goes to the sock factory to be made up into socks – an extremely complex business. These socks have hand linked toes to make the seam flat and comfortable. The final stage is the finisher; here they are washed, steam ironed and packed. All in all a very lengthy process, but we know it is worth it as the socks are so hard wearing, soft and comfortable.

Gift boxes of socks are our speciality and these make the most wonderful luxury present for friends and relatives; from bed socks to long country socks, everyday socks to thick walking socks – you will find them all on our website. We have a great palette of colours too including heather, olive green and raspberry.

We also have gorgeous light as air cashmere wraps that are made in Scotland and beautifully gift boxed.
